Bukidnon State University Celebrates its 5th Anniversary as Chartered University and 88th Founding Anniversary

Bukidnon State University, Malaybalay's top university, celebrates its 5th anniversary as chartered university (became a university last 2007) and 88th founding anniversary last June 21-22, 2012. BSU's real foundation day is on June 10, yet the administration moved it to 21 and 22 for convenience.

I went back to my Alma Mater and joined its celebration. I missed being a part of the preparations since I was a former officer. I immediately went to my home college, College of Business, Accountancy, Hospitality and Public Governance (CBAHPG), what was formerly known as CBAIT, where the students are lining up for free lunch courtesy of BSU Administration! and take note: Jollibee BEEF STEAK and 39NERS are on the menu!

CBAHPG Students waiting for their turn to get Free Lunch. (They're wearing YELLOW because it is the college color.)

Free Lunch! Beef Steak and 39ners!

After lunch, each college of BSU is given time to have their own programs and entertainment. The colleges of BSU are:

COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES (CAS)
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS, ACCOUNTANCY, HOSPITALITY AND PUBLIC GOVERNANCE (CBAHPG)
COLLEGE OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY (CCEIT)
COLLEGE OF NURSING (CON)
COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION (CTE)
COLLEGE OF LAW
SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES

BEEF STEAK! (I brought home 7 since not all students went to avail the free lunch.)

Nighttime came and the University administration prepared a very wonderful program together with the Supreme Student Council - the head student council in the university. The evening events include:

LANTERN FLYING
FIREWORKS DISPLAY
UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION, FACULTY AND STAFF DINNER

The lantern has been lit!

The Sky Lanterns (what they are actually called) looks magical once it flies away.

And immediately, the Fireworks display started. I tried to get clear and cool images but I guess I need more practice in timing. These are the images I captured:

Finally, the celebration ended, the University Administration, Faculty and Staff went on with their dinner at the University Gymnasium.

I really missed being a student leader! Helping and preparing for the activities, yet let others take a chance to enjoy the benefits of it. KUDOS BUKIDNON STATE UNIVERSITY! My Alma Mater!

A Closer Look at Malaybalay City

Its been a while since the day that I walked through the City Proper, and its a perfect place to see the city because it is after all the city center and the administrative capital of the province. Since I have tons of free time so I thought of going out and explore the city.

The City's Poblacion is divided into 11 Barangays, which are numerically named. Barangays 1, 2, 5, 6, 8 and 9 are found on the eastern side of Sayre Highway (named Fortich Street in the Poblacion) while Barangays 3, 4, 7, 10 and 11 are on the western side. The 11 Barangays, together with 2 urbanizing barangays Casisang and Sumpong, form the Poblacion District of Malaybalay City. The other districts are the North Highway, South Highway, Basakan and Upper Pulangi.

I went upward to Heights (Barangay 1) through Claro M. Recto Avenue and these are the sites I caught on cam:

The Church of Latter Day Saints (also known as Mormons)

Immediate top and bottom photos shows the Lower Claro M. Recto Avenue going to Sayre Highway.

Further up CM Recto is the City Hall. I haven't got good images because I stayed outside the compound.

THE MALAYBALAY CITY HALL

Above is the City Court of Justice, also found in the City Hall Compound.

Then I went on at Alberto Street, crossing Gov. Rubin Street. I am now at Barangay 1 also known locally as Heights.

Then I went southward, by making my through Pimentel Street and then making my way to the Kaamulan Grounds. Here are the pictures while on the way:

Finally, I reached the entrance leading to the Kaamulan Grounds. Its been a while since I last visited this place, still beautiful and serene.

Kaamulan Open Theater (also known as Folk Arts Theater)

I then went to the Provincial Capitol. It is quiet because it is a weekday not like every weekends wherein families and friends come together and play.

Because the "rainy afternoon syndrome" is coming, I decided to go home. I hope tomorrow I could go to the western side of the City and the City terminal.
